About SADTC
The San Antonio Dog Training Club (SADTC) was founded in 1961. We are an all volunteer organization of approximately 50 members dedicated to the training of dogs to be loving and well-behaved companions of the household. We do this by teaching you to teach your dog using positive training techniques. We also provide training for those people who are interested in the competitive sport of dog obedience. The club typically offers two American Kennel Club (AKC) obedience trials a year; one in March and one in July.
We actively volunteer with the Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County. Our classes are held at their location, 4804 Fredericksburg Road just outside of Loop 410 in San Antonio. As part of the Canine Cadet program at the Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County, SADTC volunteers help train the shelter's older dogs to walk on a leash, to sit and stay, among other basic skills to help make them more adoptable. We also temperament test the shelter dogs to insure that the dogs will be placed with the right families. In 2005 the club provided 500 hours of disaster relief for animal victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Our members are also involved in nursing home visits and dog walks, and enjoy various outings such as picnics and parties that include our dogs.
The club's business meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00PM at the Humane Society/SPCA of Bexar County building, 4804 Fredericksburg Road just outside of Loop 410 in San Antonio.
