Summer Club Picnic

The San Antonio Dog Training Club (SADTC) was founded in 1961. We are an all volunteer organization of approximately 50 members dedicated to the training of dogs to be loving and well-behaved companions of the household. We do this by teaching you to teach your dog using positive training techniques. We also provide training for those people who are interested in the competitive sport of dog obedience. The club typically offers one to two American Kennel Club (AKC) obedience and rally trials a year; usually in March or November.

Over the years we have volunteered with various organizations such as the Hill Country Animal League, Therapy Animals of San Antonio, and the San Antonio Humane Society. Our volunteers have given obedience and rally demos, helped train older shelter dogs to walk on a leash, to sit and stay, among other basic skills to help make them more adoptable. In 2005, the club provided 500 hours of disaster relief for animal victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In 2008, the club again stepped up to help with animal victims of Hurricane Ike.

Our members also enjoy various outings such as picnics and parties that include our dogs.

The club’s business meetings for 2020 and 2021 are held via Zoom the first Thursday of the month at 7:00PM. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic our meetings were held at the Therapy Animals of San Antonio Office at 5815 Callaghan Rd Suite 104 Summit II building San Antonio, TX 78228. We hope to return to face-to-face meetings at some point in the future. If you’d like to get to know us by attending a club meeting please send a request for the Zoom notice to our email sadtctraining@sadtc.org. Once we are able to resume offering classes to the public, you are welcome to come watch one night or enroll in one of our training classes. Please check our Current Classes for updates.
